Tournament WTA 250 relocates to Warsaw tennis courts #LegiaTenis&Golf on the street Myśliwiecka. The sale of the first tranche of tickets is planned for mid-May.
Second edition of BNP Paribas Poland Open 2022, which will take place between 25 and 31 of July 2022, promises to be very exciting. The relocation to the well-connected capital city will make it easier for many people to get to the courts and admire female contenders from the main series of WTA 250 for many people.
This year’s relocation is dictated by many factors. The tournament is a complicated undertaking, that is why changing the location to Warsaw is a huge economic and organisational relief for us. Furthermore the capital city of Warsaw and Legia Tenis & Golf are planning modernisations, that go hand in hand with our vision of the tournament’s development. We have got the licence for the next few years, that is why we have to think about the tournament in perspective and realise perennial strategy. In the case of long-term cooperation, that is periodic sporting events, it is vital to develop and pursue the realisation or strategic goals, like promoting tennis in Poland or advertising Poland around the world, together with our main partners and associates.
Paulina Wójtowicz, Iga Świątek’s manager and ower of the BNP Paribas Poland Open licence
Warsaw provides a lot of new possibilities. The relocation will result in a special open zone with activities promoting local tennis for fans and parents with children.
It is an enormous honour for Warsaw, being chosen to host a huge tennis festival. It will be a chance of a lifetime to see Iga Świątek, World No. 1, playing at home. It is a guarantee of sport emotions, but there will also be a lot of fun, because together with the organisers we are preparing many attractions for the residents and tennis fans. Today, I am inviting everyone to Warsaw tennis courts for the last week of July.
Rafał Trzaskowski, mayor of Warsaw
Last year, we had the pleasure to organise ATP Challenger tournament, that is why taking up such a challenge like WTA tournament is another, natural step for us. We are extending the number of partners with a prestige, global brand and we are realising our promises to develop this place, which is exceptional for Polish tennis and of great tradition. We are looking forward to the competition between best female tennis players on our courts, and announced presence of Iga Świątek is an additional incentive and feather in our cap.
Michał Szewc, manager of Legia Tenis & Golf
